One of my many favorite flowers…. The delightful Bougainvillea. This beautiful tree with its deep magenta flower was a favorite sight of mine of my childhood garden. I was literally very sad and upset to discover when I went to visit back home after decade of absence that my favorite tree was washed away in one of the Monsoon flood.
But luckily my mother a lover of plants and an ardent gardener had saved the root of the plant in a flower pot, which was forgotten and tucked away among several flower pots in a corner of the well taken care garden.
After my insistence and my remembrances she replanted the roots again in the same spot of the garden. It was a skeptical scene of hope to see a huge flowering tree replaced by a small chopped cluster of roots holding on to each other.
Replanted watered and ….prayed for amazingly just before I left, baby soft green leaves sprouted and then cluster of flower bloomed. Joyful scene reenacted in action was a sight to behold.
This image is in the remembrances of my favorite tree of my garden.
The plant was discovered in Brazil by French Botanist accompanying French Navy admiral and explorer Louis Antoine de Bougainville during his voyage of circumnavigation. Bougainvillea is sometimes referred to as "paper flower" because the petals are thin and papery.
In it loving memory i painted this painting.....
